In 2001 I qualified as a counsellor (Graduate Diploma in Counselling, York St John College, University of Leeds). Since then I have worked in several settings including the NHS (counselling part-time in a GP Practice), student counselling (at Trinity College Dublin and the University of York) and I have run a private practice. I have recently moved to live and work in central London.
Having qualified in Social Work in 1986 (MA and CQSW, Leicester University) I worked in related helping professions, using counselling skills, for more than twenty years. I have considerable experience of working with people who are facing a wide range of personal difficulties.
I am currently working towards a Ph.D. (with the University of York), researching how counselling and psychotherapy work at a psycho-biological level from the perspective of Attachment Theory.
I am a registered counsellor accredited by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I work according to the BACP code of ethics and am subject to its complaints proceedure.
